IMPORTANT Information About WEB BROWSERS:

Our Website looks best using… FIREFOX or SAFARI.

Using INTERNET EXPLORER - You must use Version 7 or higher!

While the website is completely new – rewritten from the “ground up” – we believe that it is easier to use and find information. Plus we have added many new features, but we kept the good features too. If you have any questions – send us and Email from the CONTACT US menu bar. Or you can call Bill Wilcox at (205) 473-1676 – we don’t want you to get frustrated trying to find information or if you are having a problem with the website:

Calendar:

First off you can click on Tournaments in the Menu Bar and our Calendar will display on the screen. And it still works the same – so just click on a tournament date and a Pop-Up window appears and displays the tournament information and a link for Tournament Registration, Weather, and MapQuest.

Search:

You can search the website by player name or golf course. If a player’s name is in a Tournament Post then the search will list all of the Posts with their name. You can also search for golf courses where an AJGO Tournament was held. We will be adding search capabilities to photos as well.

Now you can leave Comments:

We wanted to give players, friends and family the opportunity to make Comments. Everyone likes to “hear” comments about their tournament results, so feel free to post comments. We do want to reassure everyone that: We will be controlling comments; all comments have to be approved by the AJGO before they are actually posted to the website.

We want comments to be positive in nature. Any inappropriate comments will not be posted and the user account will be canceled and blocked from the website – so everyone needs to “play nice.”

If you chose, you can Register with the website – click on Register – it’s in the bottom left corner of the page. All you have to do is type in a user name (it’s doesn’t have to be a complete name, it can be a one word and something that’s easy to remember) then enter your E-mail address and the website will E-mail you a password. Just click on the link in the E-mail and login. Registered users can enter Comments on Posts. Posts are the stories that we write about each Age Group for each Tournament. For example: If you look at the Post for the 13-Under Age Group for the Timberline Tournament – at the bottom of the Post you will see an area for Comments. Just type in a comment – enter the code on the screen – and that’s it.

Security:

Anyone can visit our website. You do not have to be a Registered user. We do have a variety of security measures in place. All of the security works in the “background.” The security devices that you will notice is when you Register as a User, send a Contact Us E-mail and when you leave a Comment. In each instance you will be asked to type in a Letter/Number Code that is embedded in an image. Using these Codes make it very hard for computers to scan our website. If you have difficulty reading the Code – there is a Refresh button to the right of the Code Box that will display a new code.

Tag Cloud:

This is just below the Search area on the right side of the web page. It displays players names in a swirling “globe.” Mouse over a name and it turns red – click on the name and it displays all of the Posts with that player’s name in it. You will also notice that some names are larger than others – the larger the name – the larger the number of posts. So someone listed in 7 posts would have their name displayed in larger text than a player listed in 1 post. We have the top 32 players with the most posts appearing in the Tag Cloud.

Mini-Calender:

Just below the Search and Tag Cloud area is the Mini-Calender. This is a fast way to look for tournaments. Dates that have a Bold date are Tournament dates. Mouse over the date and it turns a light-blue. Click on the Date – and a Pop-Up window displays with the Tournament location – click on the Tournament and another Pop-Up appears with a link for Tournament Registration. The Mini-Calender is basically a small version of our Tournament Events Calender. It’s somewhat redundant – but we want to to make information accessible in a variety of ways.

Photo Gallery:

We have photos from the last (42) Tournaments in the Photo Gallery. Click on a Photo Album for a Tournament and you can view the photo individually or you can play the photos in a Slideshow. Cool.

All of the Photo Gallery photos are also posted on our Flickr web page as well. Feel free to download photos.

We have also realized that we are not very good at photography! So we are going to start planning better when it comes to taking photos – make sure the lighting is correct, etc.

RSS Feeds:

You can subscribe to our RSS News Feeds. We have an over-all AJGO News RSS Feed which includes everything that is posted to the website. Or you can subscribe to just news for a particular Age Group.

We are using the Breaking News category for brief messages – such as, we just placed new updated tee times for a tournament on our website, or there are weather conditions that we want to keep you updated about, etc.

Home Page:

We set-up the Home Page to display information about the AJGO for visitors that are at the website to learn more about the AJGO. There is a very nice slideshow that provides information about various aspects about the AJGO.

Animated Photos:

Click on any photo to get an enlarged view. We have programmed a very nice animated process for displaying the enlarged view. It’s makes things more interesting. When you are finished looking at a Photo – just Click on the Photo and it closes.
