FAQ


  1. What are the ages for player eligibility?

    You must be 12 years old by the date of the tournament you wish to enter. However if your junior golfer is younger than 12 years old and is capable of carrying their golf bag for 18-holes and has a general understanding of the rules of golf - then we will allow players younger than 12 years old to join the AJGO and enter tournaments. Players up to age 19 are allowed to join the AJGO and play in events provided they are not full-time college students.


  2. What does membership in the AJGO include?

    For players who meet the age requirements, you are eligible to enter as many events as you like for 1 calendar year, which begins on January 1st. You will receive a AJGO - Dixie Section PGA logo golf cap, a 2008 AJGO - Dixie Section PGA Bag Tag, and a 2007-2008 USGA Rule Book.


  3. Can anyone play in Alabama Junior Golf Organization events?

    You must be a resident of Alabama or the Florida Panhandle and meet the age requirements.


  4. When will the tournament entry applications be available?

    You can enter tournaments online starting 30 days before the tournament date. Tournament entries will close 2 days before the tournament date.
  1. Point System

    The points system will determine the final field of the AJGO Junior Championship. Points from your best 8-Events will be posted.  Points are distributed as follows:

    1st: 20 points      2nd: 18 points     3rd: 16 points     4th: 14 points     5th: 12 points
    6th: 10 points      7th: 8 points         8th: 6 points       9th: 4 points     10th: 2 points
    No shows (DNS) and No cards (NC): -10 points

    DNS refers to those players who fail to appear for their assigned tee time without notifying the AJGO. NC refers to those players who fail to return their scorecards to the Scoring Committee. In the event of either offense, ten points from their point total.

    There will be a AJGO Junior Tour Season Points Champion for each age group - which is separate from the AJGO Junior Tour Championship Tournament. Players will be flighted in the AJGO Junior Tour Championship Tournament according to their total points for the season.  If an Age Group reaches the maximum number of players for the AJGO Junior Tour Championship, players making field will be determined by their Season Points Total.

  1. Are spectator carts available?

    Cart availability is a decision made by the Club at which the tournament is being held.


  2. Can parents "coach" or caddie for players?

    No. Parents are required to stay on the cart path at all times and can offer only refreshment or medical attention to their junior player.


  3. Are pull-carts allowed?

    The use of pull-carts is a decision made by the Club at which the tournament is being held.


  4. What do you mean by Spring, Summer and Fall Seasons?

    We will have abbreviated Spring and Fall Seasons consisting of 6-tournaments. The Summer Season for 2008 will consist of 30-tournaments that will be located geographically throughout the State of Alabama.


  5. Will there be a Points System and a Championship?

    There will be AJGO Points Champions for each age division and a 2-Day AGJO State Championship at the end of the Summer Season.

  6. Can players user range finders?

    No, we feel that in Junior Golf it is important to learn how to accurately determine distances by using the markers on the golf course. Also, Range Finders are expensive and we don't want to put a player at a competitive disadvantage because they don't own a Range Finder - and we don't want parent to feel "pressured" into purchasing a Range Finder.
